Hasn’t God blessed us with these spiritual councils. Personally, I’d be lost without them. The story of the little Priest hiding Aunties shoes, reminded me of when Mum would buy her cigarettes. When in times of more stress than normal, she’d buy a few packets and on the way home from the shop I’d steal them from the shopping bag, crumble them all and throw them under the house, which was elevated at certain points. I’m not at all likening myself to the little Priest in his virtue, not even close, but his story transported me to the awareness I had at the time, that although Mum was angry when she found out what I’d done, I somehow remember, ever so slight, but it was there, a sense of mercy and reflection coming from her. Please pray for us, Father Emmanuel.
